Stogie Review – Dunbarton T&T – Todos Las Dias Half Churchill

“I have to totally agree with Steve here.  The cigar slowly built up in power from the beginning to end and I could feel the nicotine building.  I got notes of dark chocolate, leather, cedar, a black pepper note that turned more into a red pepper flake with hints of clove and coffee near the end.  I enjoyed this cigar even though its not really style of cigar.  The flavors were on point, but the body was more than I like to smoke now.  The cigar is best smoked drier than most at around 62-65% RH as suggested by Steve.  I have to agree as the first one I smoked was around 69-70% and it was more earthy and slightly muddy.  At the lower RH, it smoked a LOT better with richer, better flavors.” – Ben Lee

“This cigar was great in my opinion. A well-built cigar that was very easy to work with. Simple cut, light, and smoke made this cigar very nice. The flavor profile was delicious. There was not a lot of complexity, but the overall smoke and aroma was absolutely pleasant. If I could make one suggestion, I would say to pre-cut the cigar and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. This will allow an ample amount of rest time and will get the remainder of the harshness out of it, so that it will burn and taste great all the way through. Enjoy these, they are worth the buy.” -Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)

“The Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Todos Las Dias is an excellent cigar. It offers deep, rich flavors with complex “dark” notes. Throughout the experience, strength and body continually build but not just for the sake of it. Mild fans might want to steer clear, but if you enjoy full-bodied goodness, this is a must try and one of the best cigars of the year. I highly recommend it!” – Noah Gayer

“It really comes down to “are you a fan of strong cigars or not?” If you aren’t…then you should probably just avoid this cigar. It has a flavor profile that I consider “good”…but not so outstanding that everyone should try it. I have a feeling it will appeal to a rather narrow range of people, rather than the broader appeal that Sobremesa and Mi Querida have. For myself, I do like it and I will smoke it on those occasions I want something stronger and more full-bodied than normal. It’s just that those occasions are fairly infrequent.” – David Jones

“There are two things that stand out on with the Todos Las Dias Double Wide Belicoso. The first is the boldness that this cigar delivers from its strength and body. The second is the uniqueness demonstrated from the flavor profile of this cigar. In fact, the flavors were so unique, it was tricky at times to come up with flavor analogies.  On top of that, I really like how this blend worked in the 4 3/4 x 60 figurado format.  I’ve smoked many of these cigars over the past month and in the short amount of time, I’m already seeing this cigar respond quite well to age and I still think there is more potential ahead. Given the boldness of the Todos Las Dias Double Wide Belicoso, it’s a cigar I would recommend to a more seasoned cigar enthusiast. As for myself, this is a cigar I’d smoke again. It’s a cigar worthy of a box purchase.” -William Cooper

“Overall, the Todas Las Dias from  Steve Saka is by far the best cigar I have sampled in 2017 to date. The flavors were well-balanced and enticing throughout. There were delicious spikes of flavor  to keep your palate intrigued like mint,  fruit, and almond. The burn was spot on with a wave here and there that always self corrected. I would certainly pair this with a Islay Single Malt Scotch such as Oban or Lagavulin to complement the savory notes in the cigar.” – Boston Jimmie

“I found Dunbarton’s strongest cigar to date, the Todos Las Dias, to be surprisingly well mannered yet exhilarating. Layers upon layers of rich, bold flavors wove their way into the experience like a five course meal. If I could only use one word to describe this cigar, it would be, “satisfying”. Long story short: If Steve Saka blends a half (or short) Churchill vitola, you owe it to yourself to take it for a spin! – Dave West

“Whenever someone comes out with the next “strongest” cigar, I almost never give it the time of day. Not because I don’t like a strong cigar, but because I would much rather have a flavorful and well balanced smoke than just a ton of ligero punching me in the face. With the Todos Las Dias, this was not the case; it was very flavorful, very well balanced, maintained excellent construction, and yet was very strong. Although it was not as flavorful, in my opinion, as Dunbarton’s Mi Querida, it was an overall enjoyable smoke and one which I will be reaching for again.” – Maxwell

“There’s no doubt about it—Todos Las Dias is going to be a hit with many craft enthusiasts, and a miss with others. If your preferences lean towards sensation (strength) over refined nuances, etc., this is going to be in your regular rotation. For me, I generally fall into the latter group—not to say I don’t enjoy a strong cigar, I just need to see a greater balance, with bigger, juicier flavors to combat the high nicotine output. TLD was impressive in that it performed as advertised, beginning smooth and steadily ramping up to a nicotine monstrosity. This was a fun experience and a remarkable display of Saka’s growing blending talents. The cigar’s “it factor” was a sudden flipping of the switch in strength, providing a noticeable rush of extremity-numbing nicotine that was quite relaxing. Flavor wise, I just wish there was a bit more to sink my teeth into.” – Jordan Guttormson

“I don’t know if it is the size that is playing a mind game with me, but back in the day in the height of its popularity I smoked a lot of Joya de Nicaragua Antano Gran Consul sticks and there is a familiarity to this cigar along the lines of that cigar. Is it my favorite Saka stick no, but it is definitely my favorite size in the release. It’s strong with a lot of flavors going on and I’ll be curious to smoke it again in 6 months after it gets some more age.” – Barry Stein
